Located in
the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Bozeman is truly a remarkable
community. The Bozeman area at large encompasses over 50,000 people
with backgrounds and cultures as diverse as the Montana landscape.
From cattle ranchers to high tech engineers, the area is home to a
breed of people who have come to appreciate an unmatched quality of
life. While retaining a small town feel, we pride ourselves on
offering community activities and programs typically available only
in larger, metropolitan areas. Combine the wide array of resources
with an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities and it's
easy to understand why we rank as one of the nation's most liveable
cities.
Bozeman and the surrounding areas offer endless opportunities for
fishing, hiking, camping, and biking being located next to millions
of acres of national forests. Within minutes of downtown Bozeman is
located the
Bridger Bowl ski area. Bozeman is also home to
Montana
State University. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of
Teaching recognizes MSU as one of 94 research universities with
"very high research activity." Other such institutions are Yale
University, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, the
University of Washington and Oregon State University. Situated next
door to the University is the famous
Museum of the Rockies. This
first-class museum explains the history, geology, wildlife, and
people of the Rocky Mountains. The centerpiece of the museum is the
fabulous dinosaur exhibit, which includes a life-size cast of a
Tyrannosaurus rex skull, and the even larger Gigantosaurus carolinii.
Only 80 miles away is Yellowstone National Park. America's first and
foremost National Park, drawing over three million visitors yearly.
Established in 1872 by the United States Congress "for the
preservation of" its many wonders and "for the enjoyment of the
people," and now encompassing 2.2 million acres, Yellowstone in 2006
celebrated its 134th anniversary |
