Missoula is home to multiple golf courses. Public courses include, Larchmont, Linda Vista, Canyon River, King Ranch, and Highlands golf course.

Missoula also boasts hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails. Enjoy the Rattlesnake Recreation Area all year round from hiking and biking to cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Blue Mountain Recreation area plays host to hikers, bikers, equestrians and dog lovers. This trail system accommodates all, from easy hikes in the open hills to more strenuous hikes through the trees. Patty Canyon Recreation Area is also a beautiful place to take in the great outdoors. Blue Mountain and Patty Canyon both play host to FOLF (Frisbee Golf) courses.

Fishing is a favorite past time for many visitors to Missoula. The Clark Fork, Bitterroot, and Blackfoot rivers all offer great fishing. Visitors can take a guided fishing trip on any of these rivers or get helpful hints and tips from local fly shops for a self guided trip. Missoula is also in close proximity to Rock Creek. Fisherman can catch rainbow trout, bull trout, and brown trout. Just remember to check all the local fishing regulations before hitting the water.

For the outdoor adventurer, Missoula has many rafting guides that can take you on a variety of outings. Take a leisurely float down the Clark Fork or a whitewater adventure on the Alberton Gorge.

Missoula is also within an hour drive to Flathead Lake and Seeley Lake. Flathead Lake is the largest fresh water lake in the western United States. Located an hour north of Missoula on Highway 93, guests can enjoy a variety of water sports and fishing. Seeley Lake is located 53 miles northeast of Missoula on Highway 83 and plays host to water sports and fisherman alike.

Missoula is also home to the Montana Grizzlies, the Missoula Osprey, Missoula Maulers and the Missoula Phoenix. The sports enthusiast can enjoy something all year round from college football and basketball to semi-professional baseball, football, and hockey.

For the winter outdoor enthusiast, Missoula is within 2 hours of Lookout Pass Ski Resort, Lost Trail Powder Mountain, and Discovery Ski Resort. If you’d prefer to play closer to town,  Snowbowl Ski and Summer Resort is just a short 30 minutes from the northwest corner of Missoula. All of these ski resorts offer a wide variety of terrain from beginner to expert and all have equipment rentals and lessons.

Missoula also has miles of groomed cross country ski trails, including the Rattlesnake Recreation Area, Lake Como, Seeley Lake and Lolo Pass. Enjoy the beauty of western Montana in the winter time at any of these trailheads.
